GoRetro and Retro Rabbit both charge per team, with no limit on how many people are in a team, so the price comparison is direct: count your teams and multiply.
GoRetro, made by Acumen, pairs retro boards with Jira-connected sprint monitoring, and its AI builds retro cards from that sprint data. Retro Rabbit starts from what the team writes: notes added during the sprint, CarrotIQ to group and summarise them and suggest action items, and last retro's actions on every new board.
If you're looking for a GoRetro alternative, this page covers GoRetro's prices (monthly and annual), the math for one, three and eight teams, how CarrotIQ compares with Joker cards, how a sprint works in Retro Rabbit, and how to switch.
Retro Rabbit vs GoRetro at a glance
- Same pricing unit. Both bill per team, with unlimited members, so team size doesn't change the bill.
- Price. GoRetro Premium is $35 per team per month billed monthly, or $29 billed annually. Retro Rabbit is $30 (Starter) or $40 with AI (Pro AI) per team per month.
- AI on your own notes. GoRetro's AI cards come from Jira sprint data. CarrotIQ works on what your team wrote, with no Jira connection needed.
- Notes all sprint. Retro Rabbit's board is open the whole sprint, so the retro starts from notes written when things happened.
- Follow-through. Every Retro Rabbit board has Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved action-item tabs.

AI features: CarrotIQ vs GoRetro Joker cards
CarrotIQ is Retro Rabbit's AI. It's on the Pro AI and Enterprise plans and included in the 14-day trial, and it works on the notes your team writes, with no Jira connection needed:
- Automatic grouping. CarrotIQ groups related notes and names each group in a few words. You can still move a note to another group or rename a group.
- Summaries. A short summary for each column plus an overall summary of the sprint, saved with the retro in the Team Room's sprint list.
- Suggested action items. "CarrotIQ Suggest" proposes an action item from the retro's notes, weighted by votes, and skips actions the team has already created.
Because it starts from the team's own words, CarrotIQ works with whatever people noticed during the sprint: a flaky test environment, a handover that went wrong, a review that waited three days. Grouping makes those themes visible, votes show which matter most, and the suggestion gives the team a first draft of the action.
GoRetro's AI works on Jira sprint data: its Joker creates AI-generated retro cards "using your Sprint monitoring data", and once Jira sprint data is fetched, its AI analyses the sprint and emails you.
Where Retro Rabbit is better
- AI that works on your notes. CarrotIQ groups, summarises and suggests action items from what the team wrote, with no Jira connection needed. GoRetro's Joker cards come from its Sprint monitoring data, which comes from Jira.
- Notes all sprint. The board is open the whole sprint. People add a note when something happens, from the board itself or from Quick Notes on the dashboard, which drops a note into any Team Room. The retro starts from a sprint's worth of notes, not from what people remember on the day.
- A lower price on monthly billing. Billed monthly, Starter is $30 per team against $35 for GoRetro Premium. For $5 more per team than Premium, Pro AI adds CarrotIQ.
- Action items that come back. Each board has Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs, so the team sees what it promised last time before promising anything new. Every action item has an owner, and in Slack workspaces you can send the owner a reminder.
- A live board when you meet. A real-time board with a shared timer (30 seconds to an hour) and voting set per Team Room: one vote per note, or dot voting with a maximum per person.
- Notes without your name. Anyone can post a note without their name shown, using a per-person setting.
- Five ready formats, editable columns. Went well / Didn't go well / Learned / Puzzling, Start/Stop/Continue, Sailboat, Mad/Sad/Glad and 4Ls are built in, and you can rename the columns (up to five).
- Export for your records. Download each retro's notes as CSV or XLSX, or the board as a PDF.
- A trial with the AI switched on. 14 days with CarrotIQ included and no credit card.
- Slack that collects notes. Optional. GoRetro's Slack integration sends action items to a channel and pulls no data from Slack. In Retro Rabbit, people add a note with
/retro your note here, start the review with/retro start, and can get a Slack reminder to add notes on weekdays.
How a sprint works in Retro Rabbit
- Notes go in as things happen. During the sprint, anyone adds a note to the Team Room's board, from Quick Notes on the dashboard, or with
/retroin Slack. - CarrotIQ groups them. Related notes are grouped automatically and each group gets a short name, which you can change.
- The team meets and votes. Start the review, set the timer, and vote: one vote per note, or dot voting.
- CarrotIQ summarises. Each column gets a short summary, and the sprint gets an overall one.
- Actions get owners. "CarrotIQ Suggest" drafts an action item from the notes, weighted by votes. Edit it and assign an owner.
- They come back next time. At the next retro, the Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs show what's still open.
Switching from GoRetro to Retro Rabbit
- Export your history first. GoRetro's help center lists PDF, CSV and PNG export, and the Meeting recap exports to PDF. Keep these files as your archive.
- Leave tracker items where they are. Action items you already turned into Jira tasks can stay in Jira. Re-create only the open ones that aren't tracked anywhere else, each with an owner.
- Create one Team Room per GoRetro team. Both tools price per team, so your team count carries over.
- Pick a format. Went well / Didn't go well, Start/Stop/Continue, Sailboat, Mad/Sad/Glad and 4Ls are built in; see What went well and Mad, Sad, Glad. For other templates, rename the columns.
- Invite the team with one link. Share the Team Room's join link on day one. Anyone who opens it signs up or logs in and joins the team, and the link is valid for 30 days.
- Start the trial at the start of a sprint. Fourteen days covers one sprint of note-taking and one retro.
- Run the first retro async, then meet. Let notes build up, then hold a short session to vote, read the CarrotIQ summary and agree on one or two action items.

The bottom line
Retro Rabbit and GoRetro both price per team. Billed monthly, Retro Rabbit Starter is $30 per team against $35 for GoRetro Premium, and Pro AI adds CarrotIQ for $40. Retro Rabbit is built for one habit: notes collected all sprint, AI that turns those notes into groups, summaries and suggested actions, and action items that come back at the next retro. Try it with one team for a sprint. See plans and start a 14-day trial (no credit card needed).
