Neatro and Retro Rabbit are both purpose-built retrospective tools, and both charge per team rather than per person.

Neatro, made by Neatro Technologies in Montréal, runs each retro as four guided steps (comments, grouping, voting and an action plan), in real time or asynchronously, and has a free plan for one team of up to 10 members. Retro Rabbit is built around one habit: the team adds notes as things happen during the sprint, CarrotIQ groups and summarises them and suggests action items, and last retro's action items show up on every new board.

If you're looking for a Neatro alternative, this page lists Neatro's prices (monthly and annual, including its free plan limits), explains what Retro Rabbit's per-team price includes, and walks through how a sprint works in Retro Rabbit.

Retro Rabbit vs Neatro at a glance

  • Pricing. Both bill per team. Neatro's free plan covers one team of up to 10 members; Premium is $29 per team per month billed monthly, or $23.20 billed annually. Retro Rabbit is $30 (Starter) or $40 with AI (Pro AI) per team per month, with unlimited users.
  • Notes all sprint. Retro Rabbit's board is open the whole sprint, and Quick Notes on the dashboard drop a note into any Team Room, so the retro starts from notes written when things happened.
  • AI. CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically, summarises the retro and suggests action items. Neatro's help center describes AI that suggests groups of similar comments.
  • Follow-through. Neatro reminds you of open actions at the start of each retro. Every Retro Rabbit board has Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved action-item tabs.
  • Trial. Both offer 14 days without a credit card. Retro Rabbit's includes CarrotIQ.

What Retro Rabbit's price includes

Pro AI$40 per team per monthEverything in Starter, plus CarrotIQ
EnterpriseCustomEverything in Pro AI, plus optional team training and a dedicated account manager

Retro Rabbit charges per Team Room, which is one team's retro space. The price doesn't change with the size of the team: a squad of 5 and a squad of 15 pay the same, and adding a new hire costs nothing. Every plan includes notes all sprint, the live board with timer and voting, action items that carry over to the next retro, and export. Pro AI adds CarrotIQ: automatic grouping, summaries and suggested action items.

Annual billing and invoices are available on request. Every team can start with a 14-day trial that includes CarrotIQ, with no credit card. See Retro Rabbit pricing.

AI: CarrotIQ and Neatro's AI

CarrotIQ is Retro Rabbit's AI. It's on the Pro AI and Enterprise plans and included in the 14-day trial:

  • Automatic grouping. CarrotIQ groups related notes and names each group in a few words. You can still move a note to another group or rename a group.
  • Summaries. A short summary for each column plus an overall summary of the sprint, saved with the retro in the Team Room's sprint list.
  • Suggested action items. "CarrotIQ Suggest" proposes an action item from the retro's notes, weighted by votes, and skips actions the team has already created.

Together they cover the path from notes to agreed actions. Grouping makes the themes visible, votes show what matters most, the summary gives everyone the same picture of the sprint, and the suggestion gives the team a first draft of the action rather than a blank field.

Neatro's help center says Neatro "may automatically suggest groups of comments if the AI detects similar themes", and the facilitator accepts or rejects each suggestion.

Where Retro Rabbit is better

  • Notes all sprint. The board is open the whole sprint. People add a note when something happens, from the board itself or from Quick Notes on the dashboard, which drops a note into any Team Room. The retro starts from a sprint's worth of notes, not from what people remember on the day.
  • CarrotIQ, from notes to actions. Automatic grouping, a summary per column and for the whole sprint, and "CarrotIQ Suggest" action items weighted by votes. All three are in Pro AI and in the trial.
  • Action items that come back. Each board has Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs, so the team sees what it promised last time before promising anything new. Every action item has an owner, and in Slack workspaces you can send the owner a reminder.
  • One flat price per team. Unlimited users in every Team Room, on every plan, so the bill depends only on how many teams you run.
  • A live board when you meet. A real-time board with a shared timer (30 seconds to an hour) and voting set per Team Room: one vote per note, or dot voting with a maximum per person.
  • Notes without your name. Anyone can post a note without their name shown, using a per-person setting.
  • Five ready formats, editable columns. Went well / Didn't go well / Learned / Puzzling, Start/Stop/Continue, Sailboat, Mad/Sad/Glad and 4Ls are built in, and you can rename the columns (up to five).
  • Export on every plan. Download each retro's notes as CSV or XLSX, or the board as a PDF, from Starter up.
  • A trial with the AI switched on. All three CarrotIQ features are in the 14-day trial, with no credit card, so you can test Pro AI on a real sprint before paying.
  • Slack, if you use it. Optional. Teams on Slack can add a note with /retro your note here, start the review with /retro start, and get a Slack reminder to add notes on weekdays.

How a sprint works in Retro Rabbit

  1. Add notes as things happen. During the sprint, anyone on the team adds a note to the Team Room's board, from Quick Notes on the dashboard, or with /retro in Slack. There's no separate comment step to open: the board is ready whenever someone has something to say.
  2. CarrotIQ groups the notes. Related notes are grouped automatically and each group gets a short name. Move a note or rename a group if you'd put it differently.
  3. Meet and vote. Start the review, set the timer and vote. With dot voting, each person spreads a fixed number of votes across the notes that matter most to them.
  4. Read the summary. CarrotIQ writes a short summary per column and an overall summary of the sprint, saved with the retro.
  5. Agree on actions with owners. "CarrotIQ Suggest" drafts an action item from the notes, weighted by votes. Edit it, assign an owner and save.
  6. Start the next retro with last sprint's actions. The Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs show what's still open, so the team checks on those first.

Switching from Neatro to Retro Rabbit

  1. Export what you want to keep. On Premium and up, download retro reports as PDF or CSV and export your actions. On the free plan, which has no exports and keeps 30 days of history, copy open action items by hand. Keep these files as your archive.
  2. Leave tracker items where they are. Action items you already exported to another tool can stay there.
  3. Create one Team Room per Neatro team. Both tools price per team, so your team count carries over.
  4. Keep a familiar format. Start/Stop/Continue, 4Ls, Sailboat, Mad/Sad/Glad and Went well / Didn't go well are built in; see the Start, Stop, Continue and 4Ls templates. For other formats, rename the columns.
  5. Bring over open action items with owners. Re-create them in your first retro. At the next retro they show up on the Previous Retro tab.
  6. Invite the team with one link. Share the Team Room's join link on day one. Anyone who opens it signs up or logs in and joins the team, and the link is valid for 30 days.
  7. Start the trial at the start of a sprint. Fourteen days covers one sprint of notes and one retro. Let notes build up, then vote, read the CarrotIQ summary and agree on one or two action items.

The bottom line

Retro Rabbit charges $30 per team per month, or $40 with CarrotIQ, with unlimited users in every Team Room. It's built for one habit: notes collected all sprint, CarrotIQ grouping, summaries and suggested actions, and action items that come back at the next retro. Try it with one team for a sprint.
