There are more retrospective tools than ever. Most of them help you run a good meeting. Fewer help the team remember what happened during the sprint, or make sure last retro's action items actually got done.

We checked every tool below on its own website on October 23, 2026, and every price and feature links to its source. We make Retro Rabbit, and it's our top pick: below is why, followed by 12 other tools worth knowing.

1. Retro Rabbit: our pick

Retro Rabbit is built around one idea: a retro is only as good as what the team remembers and what it does next.

Notes during the sprint, not from memory. The board stays open the whole sprint. When something goes well or badly, anyone can add a note from the board, from the dashboard's Quick Notes, or from Slack with /retro if your team uses it. By retro day the board already holds two weeks of real input instead of whatever people recall in the first five minutes.

CarrotIQ does the busywork. On the Pro AI plan, CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically and names each group, writes a summary for every column plus an overall summary of the sprint, and suggests action items weighted by the team's votes. You can still drag notes between groups or rename them.

Action items that come back. Every board has three tabs: Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved. Each action item has an owner. The team sees what it promised last time before it promises anything new, and unfinished items stay visible until someone closes them.

A proper live retro too. The real-time board has a shared timer (30 seconds to an hour), one-vote-per-note or dot voting, and an option for each person to post without their name shown. Five built-in formats cover the classics, including Start, Stop, Continue, Sailboat and Mad, Sad, Glad, and you can rename the columns to fit your team.

One price per team. Starter is $30 per team per month and Pro AI is $40, with unlimited users either way, so adding people to a team doesn't change the bill. Retros export to CSV or XLSX (notes) and PDF (the board).

Try it on a real sprint. The 14-day trial needs no credit card and includes CarrotIQ. See plans.

Other purpose-built retro tools

2. Parabol

A meeting tool for retros, standups, Sprint Poker and check-ins. Starter is free for up to 2 teams, with 10 meetings a month and 30 days of history. Team is $8 per active user per month and adds AI Suggest Groups and unlimited AI summaries. Because it's priced per active user, the bill grows with every person on the team. See Retro Rabbit vs Parabol.

3. TeamRetro

An agile meeting suite for retros, standups, health checks and estimation. It's priced by team count: Single Team is US$25 a month (or US$250 a year), and Small Organization covers 3 teams for US$60 a month (or US$600 a year). There's a 30-day trial. See Retro Rabbit vs TeamRetro.

4. EasyRetro

The tool formerly called FunRetro: simple boards, with AI summary, grouping and templates on paid plans. Plans are sized by number of teams: Team is US$25 a month for 1 team, Business US$60 for 3 and Large Business US$90 for 6, or $21, $50 and $75 a month billed annually. A free plan allows 1 public board a month. See EasyRetro alternatives.

5. Retrium

A facilitation-focused retro tool. Team is $39 per Team Room per month and Business is $715 per Team Room per year. Retrium's features and pricing pages don't list AI features. See Retro Rabbit vs Retrium.

6. Neatro

Guided retros in four steps: comments, group, vote and action plan. It's free for one team of up to 10 members. Premium is $29 per team per month, or $23.20 billed annually. Neatro's help centre says its AI may suggest groups of similar comments.

7. Echometer

A German tool for psychology-based retros, health checks and 1:1 meetings. Pro is €29 per team per month on an annual term, or €35 monthly. For retros, its AI suggests action items.

8. GoRetro

Retros connected to your Jira sprint data: GoRetro's "Joker" creates AI-generated retro cards from Jira sprint monitoring. Premium is $35 per team per month, or $29 billed annually, with a 30-day trial.

9. Reetro

A retro tool with a free plan for 3 teams of up to 9 members each, without AI. Pro is $10 per team per month with limited AI features, and Pro Unlimited is listed at $49 a month. Its help centre marks the AI features as beta.

Whiteboards and suites

10. Miro

A general-purpose whiteboard that teams also use for retros. Starter is $10 per member per month, or $8 billed yearly. See Retro Rabbit vs Miro.

11. Spreo (formerly Metro Retro)

An agile whiteboard, formerly called Metro Retro. It's priced by role: Editors are $16 per user per month ($13 yearly) and Collaborators $4 ($3 yearly); Visitors on open boards are free. See Retro Rabbit vs Spreo.

12. Confluence

For teams on Atlassian, Jira can create a Confluence retro page or whiteboard linked to the sprint. Confluence Standard is $7.15 per user per month billed monthly at 24 users, and Rovo AI starts on Standard. See Retro Rabbit vs Confluence and Jira.

Chat-based

13. Geekbot

Retro questions asked in Slack or Microsoft Teams: each person answers, and the results are summarised in Geekbot's dashboard. It's free for up to 10 users; Basic is $3 per participant per month billed monthly, or $2.50 billed annually. See Retro Rabbit vs Geekbot.

Why Retro Rabbit is our pick

Most retro tools are judged on the meeting. We think the meeting is the easy part. What makes a retro worth the hour is what happens either side of it:

  • Before: notes written when things happen, all sprint, so the retro starts from real input rather than recency bias.
  • During: CarrotIQ groups and summarises the notes, the team votes, and CarrotIQ Suggest drafts an action item from the notes, weighted by those votes.
  • After: every action item has an owner and shows up again at the next retro, in the Previous Retro or Old/Unresolved tab, until it's done.
  • The bill: one flat price per team with unlimited users, and the AI included on Pro AI with nothing extra to meter.

If that's the retro you want, start a 14-day trial with one team at the start of your next sprint. No credit card needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best retrospective tool in 2026?

Our pick is Retro Rabbit, for teams that want retros to lead to change. The team adds notes during the sprint, CarrotIQ groups and summarises them, and action items come back at the next retro until they're done. It costs $30 or $40 per team per month with unlimited users.

Which retrospective tools have AI features?

On their own sites, Retro Rabbit, Parabol, TeamRetro, EasyRetro, Neatro, GoRetro, Echometer, Reetro, Miro, Spreo, Confluence (Rovo) and Geekbot all list AI features, though what they do and which plans include them differ. Retro Rabbit's CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically, summarises each retro and suggests action items, and it's included in the Pro AI plan and the trial.

Is per-user or per-team pricing better for retrospectives?

Per-team pricing, like Retro Rabbit's $30 or $40 per team with unlimited users, doesn't grow as people join the team. Per-user tools such as Parabol ($8 per active user per month) or Miro ($10 per member per month, billed monthly) cost more with every person you add.

How do you run an async retrospective?

Keep the board open for the whole sprint so people add notes when something happens, then meet briefly to vote and agree on action items. In Retro Rabbit the board stays open all sprint, notes can be added from the dashboard or from Slack, and CarrotIQ groups and summarises them before you meet.

Do I need a dedicated retro tool if my team already uses Miro or Confluence?

A dedicated tool is built around the retro routine: ready formats, voting, a timer and action items that follow the team. In Retro Rabbit, every board shows the previous retro's action items and older unresolved ones.

How long is Retro Rabbit's free trial?

14 days, with no credit card. The trial includes CarrotIQ, so you can try automatic grouping, summaries and suggested action items on a real sprint.
