Miro is a general-purpose whiteboard, not a purpose-built retro tool, and plenty of teams run retros on it anyway. It's priced per member. On Free, only the three most recent boards stay editable, and the timer, voting and private mode start on Starter, at $8 per member per month billed yearly or $10 billed monthly. Business is $20 or $25. Current figures are on Miro's pricing page.

So teams look for Miro retrospective alternatives. Some want a tool built for retros, often priced per team instead of per person. Others like the canvas and want a different whiteboard.

Here are seven options, five retro tools and two whiteboards, with prices and features from each vendor's own site, checked October 23, 2026. Retro Rabbit is our product and our pick for teams that want retros to lead to change, so it comes first.

1. Retro Rabbit

Retro Rabbit (our product) is built for one thing: sprint retrospectives, async and live, that end in action items the team follows through. Instead of a general canvas, every team gets a retro board that's open all sprint and remembers what the last retro decided.

Notes all sprint. People add a note when something happens, not when they're trying to remember it at the retro. Quick notes on the dashboard drop a note into any Team Room, and in Slack workspaces /retro followed by your note adds it in one message. When the sprint ends, start the review and the notes are waiting.

CarrotIQ sorts the board. On Pro AI, CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically and names each group, writes a summary for every column and an overall sprint summary, and its Suggest button proposes action items weighted by the team's votes, skipping ones you've already created.

Action items with a memory. Every action item has an owner. Every board has Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs, so last sprint's commitments and older open items are on screen when the next retro starts.

A live board for the meeting. The board updates in real time and shows who's connected. Drag notes together to group them, run a timer (30 seconds to an hour), and vote with one vote per note or dot voting with a set number of votes per person. The timer and voting are on both plans.

Notes without your name shown. Each person can switch their name off and post notes without it.

A price per team, not per member. Miro charges for each member; Retro Rabbit charges per team. Starter is $30 per team per month and Pro AI, with CarrotIQ, is $40. Both include unlimited users and unlimited retros, so adding people to a team doesn't change the bill.

Easy to start. The 14-day trial needs no credit card and includes CarrotIQ. Slack is optional: the web app does everything, and Slack adds /retro notes and reminders. Built-in formats include What Went Well, Start Stop Continue, Sailboat, Mad Sad Glad and 4Ls, with columns you can rename. Notes export to CSV or XLSX, and the board to PDF.

2. EasyRetro

EasyRetro (FunRetro until November 2020) is a purpose-built retro board: columns of cards, voting, comments and merging, with 100+ templates. See Retro Rabbit vs EasyRetro.

Pricing. One subscription per team count, with no per-seat fees. Team (1 team) is $25 a month, or $21 billed annually; Business (3 teams) $60 or $50; Large Business (6 teams) $90 or $75. Free allows 1 public board a month, and monthly plans have a 7-day trial.

Notable. Paid plans add AI summaries and AI grouping of similar cards.

3. TeamRetro

TeamRetro is an agile-meeting suite with retros, health checks (45+ models), estimation and standups on every plan. See Retro Rabbit vs TeamRetro.

Pricing. Per team. Single Team is $25 a month or $250 a year, for up to 25 members, and Small Organization (3 teams) is $60 a month or $600 a year. There's no free plan; the trial is 30 days with no credit card.

Notable. The trAI assistant (labelled beta) is on every plan.

Drawbacks. Guests and observers from outside the team need Enterprise, and Single Team stops at 25 members.

4. Parabol

Parabol is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) tool for retros, standups, Sprint Poker and check-ins.

Pricing. Starter is free for up to 2 teams, with 10 meetings a month and 30 days of history. Team is $8 per active user per month, billed monthly; no annual price is published.

Notable. AI Suggest Groups and AI summaries on Team.

Drawbacks. Paid pricing is per user, like Miro's.

5. Neatro

Neatro is a retro platform with a guided flow and Team Radars for health checks.

Pricing. Free covers one team of up to 10 members with 30 days of history, without exports or integrations. Premium is $29 per team per month, or $23.20 billed annually; Pro is $39, or $31.20. The 14-day Premium trial needs no card.

Notable. Its AI may suggest groups of similar comments for the facilitator to accept or reject.

6. FigJam

FigJam is Figma's whiteboard. There's no separate price: it comes with Figma's Full, Dev and Collab seats. On Professional a Collab seat is $3 a month (the pricing page didn't say which billing cycle); on Organization and Enterprise it's $5, billed annually. The free Starter plan gives limited access.

Notable. FigJam AI can generate retro templates, sort stickies into groups and summarize them, on paid plans when an admin enables AI.

7. Mural

Mural is a full whiteboard, like Miro. Free has unlimited members but 3 editable murals, and visitors can only view. Team+ is $9.99 per member per month billed annually, or $12 monthly, with unlimited murals, visitor editing and Mural AI. Business is $17.99 per member per month (annual) with unlimited guests.

Drawbacks. Pricing is per member, and the pricing page names Mural AI without saying what it does for retros.

Why Retro Rabbit is our pick for teams leaving Miro

  • Facilitation tools on every plan. On Miro, the timer, voting and private mode start on Starter. In Retro Rabbit, formats, timer, voting and action items are part of every board on both plans.
  • The bill follows teams, not people. Miro charges per member. A Retro Rabbit team pays one flat price with unlimited users.
  • Input arrives all sprint. The board stays open, Quick notes work from the dashboard, and Slack's /retro is there if your team lives in Slack.
  • Follow-through is built in. Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs bring every open action item, with its owner, back to the next retro.
  • AI included in the plan. CarrotIQ's grouping, summaries and suggested action items come with Pro AI's per-team price and with the trial.

Moving from Miro to Retro Rabbit

  1. Export what you want to keep. Starter and up download frames as high-resolution JPG or PDF. Do it before downgrading to Free.
  2. Leave Jira issues where they are. Stickies you turned into Jira issues with Miro's Jira Cards already live in Jira.
  3. Keep your favourite format. Miro's community templates include Sailboat, 4 L's and Mad Sad Glad; all three are built into Retro Rabbit.
  4. Set up your teams. Create one Team Room per team and invite people by email or with the join link.
  5. Carry over open action items. Re-create unfinished items with owners in the first retro, so they show on the Previous Retro tab next time.
  6. Start on day one of a sprint. The 14-day trial then covers a full sprint of notes before your first review.

The bottom line

Miro is a strong canvas. If your retros need structure, notes from the whole sprint and action items that come back at every retro until they're done, Retro Rabbit is built for exactly that. Start a 14-day trial, no credit card needed, and see our full Retro Rabbit vs Miro comparison.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Miro alternative for retrospectives?

Our pick is Retro Rabbit, our own product. It's built for sprint retros: the board is open all sprint, CarrotIQ groups and summarises notes and suggests action items, and last retro's action items show up on the next board, for a flat $30 or $40 per team per month.

How much does Miro cost for retrospectives?

Miro Starter is $8 per member per month billed yearly, or $10 billed monthly, and it's the first plan with the timer, voting and private mode. Business is $20 billed yearly or $25 monthly. On Starter, visitors can edit boards through a public link without signing in.

Which retro tools charge per team instead of per member?

EasyRetro, TeamRetro, Neatro and Retro Rabbit price by team. Retro Rabbit includes unlimited users on every plan, while TeamRetro's Single Team plan covers up to 25 members. Miro, Mural, FigJam and Parabol charge per member, seat or active user.

What AI does Retro Rabbit have?

CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically and names each group, writes a summary for each column and for the whole sprint, and suggests action items weighted by the team's votes. It's part of the Pro AI plan at $40 per team per month and is included in the 14-day trial.

Can my team add retro notes before the meeting?

In Retro Rabbit, yes. Each team's board stays open all sprint, Quick notes on the dashboard add a note to any Team Room, and in Slack workspaces the /retro command adds one in a single message.

Which retro formats does Retro Rabbit include?

What Went Well, Start Stop Continue, Sailboat, Mad Sad Glad and 4Ls are built in, and you can rename the columns on any team's board.

How do I move my retros out of Miro?

On Starter and up, Miro downloads frames as high-resolution JPG or PDF, so export the retros you want to keep before you downgrade. Then create one Team Room per team in Retro Rabbit and re-create only the open action items, with their owners, in the first retro.
