If you're looking for Metro Retro, you may have noticed the new name. Metro Retro is now Spreo, and metroretro.io redirects to spreo.io. The product is still there, but the name changed twice and the pricing changed too.
Here's what happened, then five Metro Retro alternatives, with prices checked October 23, 2026.
What changed at Metro Retro
- Two renames. Metro Retro became Ludi in 2025, because the old name tied the product to retrospectives while it had grown beyond them. Ludi became Spreo on July 1, 2026, for trademark reasons. Old links redirect, and Spreo says nothing else changed.
- More than retros. Spreo calls itself an online whiteboard for agile teams, for sprint planning, refinement and retros.
- The free plan ended in September 2024. Teams moved to a 30-day trial, then paid. Spreo Lite stays free: one board, no login, live with two other people, stored in your browser.
- Pricing by role. Editors, who create boards and run sessions, are $13 per user per month billed yearly ($16 monthly). Collaborators, who sign in to team boards, are $3 ($4). Visitors join open boards free, without an account. Spreo's own example puts a product team of 8 (1 Editor, 7 Collaborators) at $34 a month billed yearly. The trial is 15 days, no card. Details are on Spreo's pricing page.
- Legacy plans. Old Starter and Business plans were sold until October 2026; existing customers keep their plan and price.
So people look around: the free plan is gone, per-person pricing grows with the team, or they only ever wanted a retro tool. Retro Rabbit, our product, is our pick for teams that used Metro Retro for sprint retros, so it comes first. Four more options follow.
Quick comparison

1. Retro Rabbit
Retro Rabbit (our product) is a retro tool, not a whiteboard. It's built for sprint retrospectives, async and live, that end in action items the team follows through, and for the loop from one retro to the next.
Notes during the sprint. Each team's board stays open all sprint, so people add a note when something happens. Quick notes on the dashboard drop a note into any Team Room, and in Slack workspaces /retro followed by your note adds it in one message. When the sprint ends, start the review and the notes are already on the board.
CarrotIQ does the first pass. On Pro AI, CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically and names each group, writes a summary for every column plus an overall sprint summary, and its Suggest button proposes action items weighted by the team's votes, skipping ones already created.
Action items that come back. Every action item has an owner. Every board has three tabs, Current Retro, Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved, so last sprint's commitments and older open items are in front of the team at the start of the next retro.
A live board when you meet. The board updates in real time and shows who's connected. Drag notes together to group them, run a timer (30 seconds to an hour), and vote with one vote per note or dot voting with a set number of votes per person.
Notes without your name shown. Each person can switch their name off and post notes without it.
One price per team, no roles. Spreo prices each person by role. Retro Rabbit charges per team: Starter is $30 per team per month and Pro AI, with CarrotIQ, is $40, with unlimited users and unlimited retros. Adding someone to a team doesn't change the bill, and there are no seat types to manage.
Easy to start. The 14-day trial needs no credit card and includes CarrotIQ. Slack is optional: the web app does everything, and Slack adds /retro notes and reminders. Built-in formats include What Went Well, Start Stop Continue, Sailboat, Mad Sad Glad and 4Ls, with columns you can rename. Notes export to CSV or XLSX, and the board to PDF.
2. EasyRetro
EasyRetro (FunRetro until 2020) is a purpose-built retro board with 100+ templates. See our EasyRetro comparison.
Pricing. Paid plans are per team, not per seat: Team (1 team) is $25 a month or $21 billed annually, Business (3 teams) $60 or $50, and Large Business (6 teams) $90 or $75. Free gives one public board a month with unlimited participants and no card. Monthly plans include a 7-day trial.
Notable. Paid plans add AI summaries, grouping and templates.
3. TeamRetro
TeamRetro is a suite of retros, health checks, estimation and standups, priced per team. See our TeamRetro comparison.
Pricing. Single Team is $25 a month or $250 a year, for up to 25 members, and Small Organization (3 teams) is $60 a month or $600 a year. There's a 30-day trial with no card, and no free plan.
Notable. The trAI assistant is in beta on every plan.
Drawbacks. Guests and observers from outside the team need Enterprise.
4. Parabol
Parabol is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) meeting tool for retrospectives, Sprint Poker, standups and check-ins.
Pricing. Free Starter covers up to 2 teams with unlimited users, 10 meetings a month and 30 days of history. Team is $8 per active user per month, billed monthly.
Notable. On Team, AI suggests groups and writes meeting summaries.
Drawbacks. Like Spreo, it's priced per person.
5. Miro
Miro is a general-purpose whiteboard, like Spreo.
Pricing. Free has 3 editable boards. Starter is $8 per member per month billed yearly or $10 monthly, and Business is $20 or $25. Visitors join by public link without an account; on Starter they can edit.
Notable. Starter adds a timer, voting and private mode.
Drawbacks. Facilitation tools such as the timer and voting need Starter, and AI use draws on monthly AI credits.
Why Retro Rabbit is our pick for teams leaving Metro Retro
- Built for the retro, not the whole canvas. If your team used Metro Retro for sprint retros, Retro Rabbit focuses on exactly that meeting and the sprint around it.
- A budget that's easy to plan. One flat price per team with unlimited users, instead of Editor and Collaborator seats.
- Notes from the whole sprint. The board stays open, Quick notes work from the dashboard, and Slack's
/retrois there if you want it. - Follow-through on every board. Previous Retro and Old/Unresolved tabs keep open action items, with owners, in front of the team.
- AI that saves the team time. CarrotIQ groups and names notes, summarises the sprint and suggests action items from the votes. It's in Pro AI and in the trial.
Moving from Spreo to Retro Rabbit
- Export your boards as PDF (whole board or a selection), CSV, HTML, Markdown or JSON. Each export covers one object type with columns you pick (content, author, votes, topic, tags, action owner), so export notes and action items separately.
- List open action items from Spreo's Action Items dashboard, which shows owners and due dates.
- Leave Jira work in Jira. Synced or converted issues are already there.
- Check what you pay. Legacy Starter and Business customers keep their price, so time the switch to your renewal.
- Set up your teams. Create one Team Room per team, invite people by email or with the join link, and re-create open action items with their owners in the first retro.
- Start on day one of a sprint. The 14-day trial then covers a full sprint of notes before your first review.
The bottom line
Metro Retro became Spreo, with per-role pricing and only a limited free option; our Retro Rabbit vs Spreo comparison covers it feature by feature. If you used it for sprint retros, Retro Rabbit gives you a retro board that's open all sprint, CarrotIQ to group and summarise it, and action items that come back until they're done, at one price per team. See plans and start a 14-day trial, no credit card needed.
Frequently asked questions
What happened to Metro Retro?
Metro Retro was renamed Ludi in 2025, then Spreo on July 1, 2026, for trademark reasons. metroretro.io now redirects to spreo.io, and Spreo says nothing else changed with the second rename.
How much does Metro Retro (Spreo) cost now?
Spreo is priced by role. Editors are $13 per user per month billed yearly or $16 billed monthly, Collaborators are $3 or $4, and Visitors who join open boards are free. There's a 15-day trial with no card needed.
Is Metro Retro still free?
The old free plan ended in September 2024. Spreo Lite is free but limited to one board, used live by you and two other people with no login, and stored in your browser. Customers on legacy Starter and Business plans keep their plan and price.
What is the best Metro Retro alternative for sprint retros?
Our pick is Retro Rabbit, our own product, for teams that used Metro Retro mainly for retros. The board is open all sprint, CarrotIQ groups and summarises notes and suggests action items, and last retro's action items show up on the next board.
Is Retro Rabbit priced per user like Spreo?
No. Retro Rabbit charges per team: Starter is $30 per team per month and Pro AI, with CarrotIQ, is $40. Both include unlimited users and unlimited retros, so there are no roles to license.
What AI does Retro Rabbit have?
CarrotIQ groups related notes automatically and names each group, writes a summary for each column and for the whole sprint, and suggests action items weighted by the team's votes. It's included in Pro AI and in the 14-day trial.
Can my team add retro notes during the sprint?
In Retro Rabbit, yes. Each team's board stays open all sprint, Quick notes on the dashboard add a note to any Team Room, and in Slack workspaces the /retro command adds one in a single message.
Can I export my boards from Spreo?
Yes, as PDF, CSV, HTML, Markdown or JSON, one object type per export with columns you choose. Keep the files as your archive and re-create open action items, with their owners, in your first Retro Rabbit retro.
